Typical Operation
The device is intended for 2 main use cases:
-
Monitor, record and visualize readings of connected external sensor devices of the egnite 500 Series.
-
Monitor, record and visualize the state of the onboard digital inputs and outputs, as well as controlling the state of the digital outputs.
-
TODO: Watchdogs
The following describes these typical usage applications, which of course can be performed simultaniously.
info
Sensors and Digital IOs are commonly refered to as Peripherals in this documentation.
Sensors
The basic mode of operation is as follows:
- Aquire a sensor of the egnite 500 Series.
- Connect the sensor physically to the device, via the onboard sensor port (Hardware docs page). See the egnite 500 Series documentation for more information.
- Configure the newly connected sensor in the web interface. See the Sensors docs page for more information.
In this step it is also possible to configure notifications, which makes the user aware if the sensor enters or leaves an abnormal condition. - Monitor sensor readings in real time or browse recorded readings on the dashboard.
Digital IOs
Inputs
The basic mode of operation for digital inputs is:
- Connect up to 4 different dry contact inputs to the digital inputs screw terminal (Hardware docs page).
- Configure the newly connected inputs in the web interface. See the Digital IOs docs page for more information.
In this step it is also possible to configure notifications, which makes the user aware if the input state changes. Addiotionally, digital outputs can be triggered by a state change of a digital input. - Monitor the state of the digital inputs in real time or browse recorded states and state changes on the dashboard.
Outputs
The basic mode of operation for digital outputs is:
- Connect up to 2 different external signals to the digital outputs screw terminal (Hardware docs page), which correspond to relay outputs, that can be connected as either normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO).
- Configure the newly connected outputs in the web interface. See the Digital IOs docs page for more information.
In this step it is also possible to configure notifications, which makes the user aware if the output state changes. - Monitor the state of the digital outputs in real time or browse recorded states and state changes on the dashboard.
